Gynecologic Team in Newport Beach, CA
We provide a full range of medical services for women, including basic gynecological care as well as specialist care for high-risk pregnancies. Facing gynecological concerns? Going through life changes including pregnancy, family planning, or menopause? You can benefit from our top-quality care at any time. Our office provides a range of services, including:
A colposcopy is a procedure that’s done to investigate abnormal cells in the cervix. The doctor will use a speculum, which is an instrument that holds the vagina open so that they can see what’s going on inside. They’ll then place a colposcope a few inches away from your vulva.
The colposcope illuminates and magnifies the cervix so that it’s easier to spot any irregularities.
The doctor may take a small sample of cells (known as a biopsy) from your cervix and send it to a lab for further testing.
The IUD is a small, T-shaped device that’s inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. It can last from five to 10 years and is a safe, effective option for birth control.
We offer two types of IUDs: the hormonal IUD and the copper IUD (non-hormonal). Either one can be used as emergency contraception if inserted within five days of unprotected sex.
Nexplanon is a hormone-releasing rod that’s implanted in your upper arm to prevent pregnancy. You can use Nexplanon for up to three years.
Nexplanon slowly releases the hormone progestin into your body. This is the same hormone that’s found in other contraceptive methods, such as implants and injections. It works by stopping sperm from reaching an egg or simply put, it hinders fertilization.
It also thins the lining of your womb (endometrium), which makes it harder for an egg to implant there.
Pessary Fitting / Insertion
Pessary fitting is the process of introducing a pessary into the vagina. It may be done for various reasons, including treatment of stress incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
A pessary is a device that fits inside the vagina to support the bladder, uterus, or rectum. It helps to keep these organs in place and prevent them from slipping out of place. Pessaries are made from different materials, including silicone and plastic.
A pessary fitting is not done in all cases where there is stress incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse. Our board-certified physician will first assess your unique situation and determine if you stand to benefit from having one fitted.
